The controversial report that found 18,000 Christchurch homes were at risk of coastal flooding could be thrown out.
After months of lobbying, Christchurch City Council staff are recommending the wording of hazard information on the LIMs of coastal residents be reviewed.
Councillors will consider today whether to review the warnings so they're fair, clear and accurate.
Councillor David East isn't expecting much opposition to the idea.
"We had an engineers report peer reviewed by an engineer. What I've always argued about what was the science of the report and whether that was valid," he said. "[There] tends to be general agreement around the table to the direction the report is asking."
A group representing Christchurch's coastal residents said the reportshould have been thrown out at beginning.
Christchurch Coastal Residents United chair Mark Munro said the fact the report is being reviewed a second time proves the first review was a farce.
"The peer review that was done previously was simply a phone call to a mate to write a couple of pages saying the report was good. It should've been thrown out before it got started."
Mark Munro said the issue's been dragging out too long for residents, and the council needs the report peer reviewed immediately.
