A bill's been introduced today which would add GST to both services and physical products bought overseas, by requiring offshore suppliers to register in New Zealand.
Revenue Minister Todd McClay says it means more revenue for the Government, but it's also about ensuring a fair competition for New Zealand businesses.
"When people are able to find ways around the tax system, it makes it unfair and there'll be others in New Zealand who'll say they shouldn't have to charge or collect GST."
