Fletcher Residential is talking up its plan for an old quarry site in Auckland, where it plans to build homes and apartments, including a ten storey block.

It's put forward two plans for Three Kings Quarry, one of which includes two sports fields and a Town Square connecting to the Three Kings town centre.

Fletcher Building's Steve Evans says it's one of the last significant blocks of land close to the city.

He says it's a great opportunity to regenerate the disused quarry and create a new urban community.

The proposals are expected to be considered by Auckland Council early next year.
