Developers are keen for the Christchurch City Council to extend the city's tram route through the innovation precinct.
They say an extension will be a big bonus for the city.
Patrick Fontein has developed five buildings in the precinct, and says it's something people will want to see.
He said the tram lines will be there, they just need the council to commit to bringing in the trams.
He also said council will need "to provide a bit of extra funding to put the overhead cabling in, and see it through to completion."
"From the start of the tram line more towards the finish area by High St, it's a new thing of interest and it shows the redevelopment of Christchurch."
Fontein said the trams are unique to Christchurch and a good way to show locals and visitors around the city.
He is one of a number of people including residents and business owners who submitted to council on the issue through the Draft Annual Plan.
