
Car service Uber has dropped its flat fare to Auckland Airport.
The $70 fare was introduced in May, in response to growing criticism of the cost of the 22-kilometre trip.
But Uber spokeswoman Katie Curran says other taxi operators have dropped their fares, making the price less competitive.
Uber has come under fire from the Taxi Federation, with claims of drivers being paid unfairly and customers being put at risk.
Unlike taxis, Uber fares fluctuate throughout the day depending on demand.
