A dog is fighting for its life after being mauled by three pit bulls on Orewa Beach.
Police were called to the scene near Kohu St at 6.35pm following the attack.
The owner of the pit bulls is co-operating with police, a police spokeswoman said.
Police are working with the owner of the dog that was attacked and animal control has been informed.
