A section of Auckland’s Northern Motorway has been closed due to a police incident.
Police said they were called to the area at about 10.50am and there is a full closure of northbound traffic on the motorway at Greville Rd as they respond to a serious incident.
Hato Hone St John confirmed to the Herald they are also at the scene.
Motorists using the motorway network are advised to delay travel if possible and follow suggested diversions.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said motorists are advised to exit via the Greville Rd off-ramp and continue to Albany Expressway, then turn right on to Oteha Valley Rd.
Drivers can return to the motorway via the Oteha Valley Rd northbound onramp.
NZTA said traffic is heavy and motorists should avoid the area or consider delaying travel.
