Two new outdoor play structures will pay tribute to the Maori and industrial heritage of Wynyard Quarter.

A 7.5-metre-high playhouse tank is being installed, that will be suitable for climbing and sliding.

Waterfront Auckland's Ralph Webster says it will feature 30 slats of recycled wharf timber from the old Tank Farm.

"They represent the 30 days of the lunar cycle

"On each one there's a Maori carving."

Another 7.5-metre-high water-play tank will be used to store water for irrigation around the park.
