A new development in Auckland could be a catalyst for more high density living.

The developers of '223 Green Lane West' at Alexandra Park have recently appointed a Canadian urban design expert.

Property marketer Pete Evans says proper urban design will give the development more of a community feel.

"There's very few really good owner occupier apartments being done in Auckland today."

Pete Evans says such developments could encourage house owners into higher density living - which would be a good thing for Auckland.

He says due to its central location, it has excellent connections to public transport.

"As people get younger or older, public transport rather than their own car has benefits."
