Black Sticks women's coach Mark Hager may be sticking with New Zealand after all.

Hager has missed out on the Australian men's head coaching role, with long time assistant Graham Reid given the job.

Hager had been mulling over his application for some time, having long coveted one of the most prestigious jobs in world hockey.

He's off contract with Hockey New Zealand, but now appears likely to stay on for the Rio Olympics.
