All eyes will turn to Auckland's Sky Tower this evening when the clock strikes midnight.
Fireworks organiser Robert McDermott told Tim Dower the final touches are being made for the spectacle this evening.
He says the iconic event puts New Zealand on the map because we're one of the first countries to bring in the New Year.
"Auckland is two hours ahead of Sydney, so we have bragging rights over being the first in the world to welcome in 2020."
