A person walking their dog has been taken to hospital after being jumped by three males at a park in East Auckland.

Police were called to reports of an assault on William Roberts Rd, Pakūranga, on Sunday evening.

The incident took place between 8.30pm and 9.15pm near Ti Rakau Park playground, when a person was assaulted during an encounter with three males.

The victim was walking their dog at the time.

St John was notified at 9.28pm and sent one rapid response unit and an ambulance.

A spokesperson said the victim was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a minor condition.

Inquiries were ongoing to identify those involved.

Police were appealing for anyone with information to call 105 using reference number 260216/2156, or provide details anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

The latest incident comes after violent attacks at Auckland parks in recent months.

Two people were critically injured in a stabbing at Pakūranga Night Markets in June last year.

A 23-year-old man faced two charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after having handed himself in to police the following day.

In central Auckland in November, a woman alleged she was punched in the stomach while relaxing at Grey Lynn Park.

A post by the woman’s flatmate said a week beforehand, a group of teenage boys threw water balloons at a woman reading in the park, and a carload of teenagers set off fireworks to “deliberately” hit a man.
