There'll be some winners and some losers from changes to Auckland's public transport fares.
Hobsonville and West Harbour ferry fares are set to fall, while cash fares for buses and trains will rise by up to 25%.
Auckland Transport's Mark Lambert says the fares reflect both the combination of higher costs and higher patronage.
He says overall costs have increased over the past year, but that's being offset by very good passenger growth.
Mark Lambert many AT HOP fares will remain unchanged, and some child fares and ferry fares will be reduced.
He says the card offers a 20% discount on cash fares, so the fare changes are an incentive for people to use cards.
