The Auckland Pride Parade is standing behind its decision ban uniformed police from marching.
That's despite meetings between police and the board over the past week.
The initial decision to ban uniformed officers spiked opposition from Police and the LGBT community.
Today, the Pride Parade board reiterated its decision.
In consultation, it heard the rainbow community's stories of mistreatment at the hands of the police, and that Police being at the Parade would make those people feel less safe.
The board said those experiences were deeply affecting and it could not ignore them - so the decision stands.
The move has been met with calls to boycott the parade over the move.Â
