Unlike its neighbours Matamata, which has Hobbiton, and Te Aroha, with its mineral spas, until recently Morrinsville was lacking a real drawcard for visitors to the town.
Local woman Nicki Robb was new to the area and wanted to create something to bring visitors in.
She convinced the community to create a ‘herd of cows’ - sixty life-sized, colourful cow sculptures dotted about the town as a draw-card.
