This is, not to put too fine a point on it, a book about bullshit. How advertisers, governments, religious leaders and big businesses amongst others, use bullshit - or as a more genteel synonym, conflation - to dupe us all.

Joe Bennett is a fine writer with a depth and breadth of knowledge that comes from a lifelong love of books and reading. His acerbic, witty, insightful commentary on the art of deception with which we're all being conned is a breath of fresh air and makes for much more than an entertaining read - Double Happiness is as thought provoking as it's humorous.

Bennett is a prolific writer - somehow he manages to produce a book a year - but this is one of my favourites from his collection.
