Former Act leader and cabinet minister Richard Prebble has said the new government will consist of a coalition of losers

Joining Larry Williams, Mr Prebble said this is the first government in New Zealand's history which has been appointed by one person, and not the people of New Zealand.

He said it's a coup, and having one person determine the government "is a dictatorship," labeling Winston Peters a "total opportunist."

Mr Prebble blames Bill English, saying he ran a first-past-the-post campaign, and that "two ticks for National was the shortest suicide note."
