Investigations into the death of a man tasered by police will look into whether it was used for behavioural compliance.
The man was seen violently attacking an elderly person in Auckland's Freemans Bay last weekend.
He resisted police attempts to arrest him and was tasered several times, but deteriorated in police custody and died in hospital.
Barrister Marie Dyhrberg told Tim Dower says tasers should only be used to temporarily disable a person.
"Well that is what we have always been concerned about is that it is never used for compliance, that is against the rules very clearly."
