Security will be stepped up at all Australian international airports as part of the Federal Government's proposed anti-terrorism laws.

That's just one measure on the table as debate continues on laws that would give additional powers to government agencies and impose jail terms on Australians travelling to terrorist hotspots without a valid reason.

Justice Minister Michael Keenan says it's all in a bid to make everyone feel safe.

"Australians do not need to feel alarmed at the increased police presence at our airports, or other significant national infrastructure. But when they do see it, they should feel reassured."
