US President Barack Obama has apologised to a couple who had to move their wedding because he wanted to play golf.

Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue had planned to tie the knot on the 16th hole of the Kaneohe Klipper course in Hawaii.

However a day before the US Army captains were due to wed they were informed Mr Obama wanted to play that day and they'd have to move their ceremony somewhere else.

A friend of the couple says the president later called them to say sorry and wish them well.
