There are claims child survivors of the Nepal earthquake are being sold to British families for a few thousand pounds to work as domestic slaves.

An investigation by The Sun newspaper said boys and girls as young as 10 are being sold for around ten thousand dollars by black market gangs operating in the Punjab in India.

Home Secretary Theresa May said child trafficking is a "truly abhorrent crime" and is urging the National Crime Agency to investigate the newspaper's findings.

According to the paper, a trader named Makkhan Singh lined up youngsters for an undercover reporter to pick from.

He told the reporter they are good at doing all the housework and are very good cooks.
