Nine girls and two staff from Rangi Ruru Girls’ School were on a cultural trip to France.
Principal Dr Sandra Hastie says girls and staff have been accounted for and are safe and well.
She says girls are currently in the care of their homestay families and staff are staying in an apartment.
Dr Hastie says the group had planned to stay in Nice until Saturday next week but in light of today’s incident, plans for ongoing travel will be reviewed over the next couple of days.
She says a decision will be made based on travel advice from French and New Zealand authorities.
Rangi Ruru is in contact with the girls' families here in New Zealand, the homestay families and the teachers on the ground in Nice.
