Labour leader Jacinda Ardern is poised to today unveil a key plank in her party's election strategy, with an announcement on its tertiary education policy.

But first this morning she is speaking to NZ Herald Focus reporter Tristram Clayton.

Ardern said Labour believed in the importance of education being accessible for everyone and today's policy would reflect that.

She also commented on the saga surrounding NZ First leader Winston Peters' Super saga, and revelations he has paid back an unspecified amount after he was overpaid for seven years.

Ardern said she would rather talk about policy than the Peters case.

"A lot of people all they will hear is people going for each other. No one is served by that," she said.

Ardern said if she won power at the election she would have no time to for dirty tricks.

"This is not the kind of thing that the people who will be around me will engage themselves in."
