Owners of a pub in the Far North are taking a stand against pokie machines after a young mum left her baby outside so she could head inside and gamble.

The Rawene Masonic Hotel has got rid of gaming machines following the incident.

When confronted by the owner Glen Dick, the woman didn't see anything wrong with what she'd done, and said her baby was left outside because she didn't have her car that day.

Glen Dick says similar incidents have happened before so it's an easy decision to get rid of the machines.

He says he doesn't want anything to do with pokies anymore due to the number of people leaving kids outside or in cars while they gamble.
