Epsom MP David Seymour says Auckland's house prices are so out of whack, even his $180,000 salary would not be enough to buy a home.
QV figures show the average house price in Auckland has now topped the one million dollar mark.
And the cost throughout the country has jumped to more than $600,000.

Mr Seymour said he would struggle to buy a house in his own electorate.
"The average house price in Epsom is about 10 times my income, so I'm sure if I saved say very, very diligently I might manage it eventually."
The ACT leader said something has got to give.
"People have to ask themselves if it's sustainable to have year on year 15 percent price rises, and have house prices at 10 times peoples income. The international evidence says that's not sustainable."
