Updated 3.00pm: Social Housing Minister Paula Bennett is passing the buck to Ministerial Services over the actions of a staffer employed in her office.

The employee drew down over $1200 on a ministerial credit card last year, in breach of clear rules on the card's use.

Green Party Co-Leader Metiria Turei is unhappy at what she sees as a lack of accountability from the Minister.

"How can the public scrutinise Paula Bennett's management of her ministerial credit card, when she responds with no comment to her role in the $1200 misuse of that card?"

Ms Bennett's confirms the staffer is still employed but is offering no comment as to if that is appropriate.

"You can take that up with Ministerial Services. As I said they employ them."

She's not explicitly confirming the money was spent on personal matters, but is giving every indication that it was.

"Well if it had been an appropriate ministerial spend they would not have had to repay it, so you can put two and two together."
