A female teacher accused of sexual offending against a schoolboy has been found guilty on seven charges.

The woman, whose name is suppressed, was on trial in the High Court at Wellington this week.

The jury deliberated for almost four hours before reaching its decision.

Several members of the boy's family were in court to hear the jury's verdict this afternoon.

The offending started when the boy was just 10 and he's now in his mid teens.

During this week's trial the jury heard the woman became pregnant to the boy last year and she had an abortion.
