The Greater Wellington Regional Council has been accused of putting out propaganda about the proposed Super City for the region.

Hutt City Council has laid a complaint with the Advertising Standards Authority over a large ad run in a local paper.

Chief executive Tony Stallinger says there are few examples were quotes, comments and info has been changed.

He says this is to get people to support the Super City proposed, which would be fair enough - but only with correct information.

Mr Stallinger says the ad claims Hutt City was ranked as a poorly performing council by the Auditor General, which isn't true.
