Politicians are saying no to patched gang members being allowed to work in the country's prisons.
It comes as Black Power member Ngapari Nui has been stood down from volunteer work he's been doing for the last five years as a kaiwhakamana, helping inmates to reintegrate.
Corrections Minister Judith Collins has asked her department to see if there are any other active gang members working in prisons.
And she's against them being involved in any work there.
"The appropriate place for gang members in our prisons is behind bars."
It's a view shared by Labour MP Kelvin Davis who said there would always be a cloud hanging over the work they're doing, and who they're associating with.
"There's just too many questions for it to be safe."
