An encouraging start to the summer holidays with just a small number of motorists caught in large swoops on Wellington, and in South Auckland.
Nearly four thousand drivers were stopped at checkpoints in the two districts last night.
Seven will face drink driving prosecutions for having more than 400 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
Three of those were in Wellington and four in Counties-Manukau.
Another six drivers - three in each district - were given tickets under the new lower adult alcohol limit of 250 to 400 micrograms.
Police say they're pleased drivers appear to be doing the right thing.
