The irksome fruit fly that's had Grey Lynn residents locked in an exclusion zone for much of the year is believed to be gone.
But the Ministry for Primary Industries says the exclusion zone could stay in place for the Auckland suburb for some time yet.
Planning manager Edwin Ainley said the warmer weather is usually when the fruit fly comes out of dormancy, so they'll be upping the trap checks.
"We're going to be checking the fruit fly traps twice a week from now on..we're hoping to have it wrapped up by Christmas."
Mr Ainley said they haven't found a fruit fly since March.
