A horror weekend on the roads has claimed the lives of seven people in the North Island.
A man died after being flung from his car in a crash near Carterton around 5.30pm yesterday.
The man suffered significant injuries which proved fatal despite attempts by paramedics to resuscitate him.
Yesterday afternoon one person was killed and four others injured in a two-car crash on State Highway Two near Katikati in the Bay of Plenty.
Earlier that day a four-wheel-drive ute crashed in a paddock north of Kaitaia, killing one person and seriously injuring two others.
And that morning the body of a 19-year-old British man was found by members of the public, after he was flung from his car near Mangakino.
On Saturday two men and a woman were killed when their car crossed the centre line on State Highway One near Taupo and collided with a truck.
