Police have confirmed they've arrested Dolphy Kohu and two others in Waiouru.

Kohu is a convicted criminal who's been on the run since he and several others shot at police, rammed them and stole a patrol vehicle in Whanganui this morning.

The Waiouru, Ohakune and Raetihi areas have been on lockdown, with a heavy police presence ever since.

Another woman was arrested in connection to the incident earlier today.
