South Auckland's Te Puea Marae could be in line for a cash injection from the Government.
The Marae has stepped up to shelter homeless families, also helping many of them into permanent accommodation and jobs.
Social Housing Minister Paula Bennett said she's considering whether to give the Marae Government money to help with the work.
She's meeting with the chairman tomorrow.
"Oh I just think they're amazing and it kind of gets back to that sense of community, that sense of kind of caring for each other and good on them - I wish they didn't have to."
Ms Bennett said the Marae stepping into the breach isn't a sign that the Government's failing.
"You can see new builds coming on board, we're freeing up land for that, we've put in all this extra money - $41 million for emergency housing - but we've still got some people in need."
