Updated 3:00pm:Â Firefighters have rescued a baby from a locked car at an Auckland library car park.
Fire fighters from the Titirangi Station were called to the car park outside the local library just before 1pm.
The mother was there but her keys weren't working because the immobiliser had gone flat, disabling the whole car.
Station Officer Brett Goodhue said they managed to set the security alarm off, and then the keys started working.
"I was considering whether I was going to smash a window or not to get into the car and once i looked in the window the baby was awake and didn't seem like it was in a lot of distress so we just thought we had a bit of time to get the baby out without using force."
The baby was locked in the car for around 10 minutes.
