Criticism that there isn't enough detail in the Government's defence white paper, is being dismissed as unfounded by one defence expert.
Labour claims the document, in which the government pledges $20 billion to the armed forces over the next 15 years, doesn't specify exactly what our core assets will be replaced with.
But Victoria University Senior Scholar at the Centre for Strategic Studies, Dr Lance Beath said traditionally that information wouldn't be shared in a White Paper anyway.
"I don't read it as a radical document. There are points of interests in it. They way in which it approaches questions of changes in the strategic environment."
A new military cyber team won't only be used to defend us from potential tech-attacks, but also as a weapon.
Dr Beath said it shows the government's keeping up.
He said a cyber attack on our communications could be devastating - but will be powerful on the offensive.
"It makes a lot of sense for us to develop a capability in both directions."
The Government's Defence Force White Paper is also the first to be written under the supervision of a woman.
Helene Quilter's been Secretary of Defence, and chief executive of the Ministry of Defence since 2012.
