Some sharp Cantabrians have found a way to get kids off the couch and active outside, while still playing video games.
A trampoline company hopes its new invention will help it get the jump on global markets.
Christchurch company Springfree Trampoline has worked with sports scientists to create a way youngsters can jump on a tramp, while using their body to 'swipe' like they would on a tablet and play gaming apps.
It works through sensors on the trampoline mats.
They use their whole body to control the app, which is designed to get kids who love gaming off the couch and outside being active.
Project Manager Jonathan Collins said inactivity causing technology is a big problem.
"We thought that if we could get technology to lure kids outside and get them to be more active, you know that was kind of the genesis really."
Kids who tried out the game during testing spent more time bouncing on the tramp than they usually would.
While there are already games hooked up to TVs which are designed to make kids move, Mr Collins said this is on a whole different level.
"Those products they all intend well but to be honest you can still be sitting on the couch and just waving your arms around and not really being particularly active, so the whole idea of this is you need to be leaping about, it is a whole body experience so your body is basically the controller on this."
The product has been launched here and around the world this week and the company's already frantically trying to keep up with demand in the US.
