A 58 year old man has died after an avalanche at Loch Linnhe near Kingston, south of Queenstown.

The man was initially pulled from the avalanche near the Devil's Staircase around 2:45pm.

However, Queenstown Police say he died a short time later.

According to Senior Sergeant Daryl Lennane, there were around 20 people present at the time of the avalanche.

The death has been referred to the coroner and police are working to advise next of kin.
