Firefighters are attending a major blaze at a Taupo plastics factory.

The fire has broken out at the Laminex Group.

A Fire Service spokesman said crews from as far away as Tokoroa and Rotorua were responding to the fire.

Ten crews in total were en route.

He said fire crews were battle a "dust cyclone" outside factory and several fires burning inside the building.
