A 17 year-old boy has been seriously injured in a motocross accident today.

He was attempting a jump on the 88 Valley track near Wakefield, but fell heavily injuring his face, chest, and leg.

The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter airlifted him to Nelson Hospital for treatment.

The on-board paramedic attended to him at the scene, and he was in a stable condition when he was flown to the hospital.
