Updated 2.07pm: Police have made an arrest in connection with their hunt for a group of people in the central North Island.

Josh Price is on Miro Street in Ohakune where it's happened.

He just witnessed "a woman being taken into custody by police."

"She's come from an address police describe as one of interest to them."

Media have been advised to stay away, or they would be arrested in turn.

Police are now leaving the Miro Street address where the arrest took place.

Officers are hunting the group after a police vehicle was shot at, rammed and stolen in Whanganui this morning.

One man they are looking for is convicted criminal Dolphy Kohu.
