Five pedestrians have been hit by a car in South Auckland early this morning.
Police said the car ran up onto the pavement on Dominion Road in Papakura not long after 3am.
Senior Sergeant Tony Costley said the driver apparently lost control.
"A vehicle was speeding along Dominion Rd, lost control, and hit a vehicle and pedestrians standing next to that vehicle."
Speed and alcohol are thought to be factors in the crash.
The senior sergeant said two people in the car were also injured.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
He said the man driving the car has yet to be charged.
