A dramatic armed crime spree in the space of an hour, involving three Hamilton service stations.

The first incident happened at 2.18 this morning, with offenders targeting the BP Connect service station in Frankton, armed with a hammer and tomahawk.

They managed to get away with a large quantity of cigarettes before hitting the Caltex service station in Dinsdale four minutes later.

The final target was the BP in Glenview just before 3am where cigarettes were also the target.

Police believe the two aggravated robberies and the burglary are all linked, as witnesses saw a white Nissan vehicle used in all three attacks.

Detective Sergeant Scott Nielson says they're committed to finding the men responsible and holding them to account.
