Hunters have ignored signage and entered the Cashmere Forest, despite a closure enforced four months ago.

Christchurch Adventure Park has been forced to issue a warning to the public about the health and safety risks of entering the forest while construction is in full swing.

Park developer, Fiona Sutton, said the situation could've been a lot worse for the workers on site.

"We've got probably 50 people working on that site everyday of the week. They're in the forest. They're all over the place."

Ms Sutton said she knows it's an inconvenience, but work is due to be finished later this year.

"Then people will have access to the park for hiking and biking, zip lining and general sightseeing. There won't be access to the park for shooting."

The forest will be accessible to the public again when work is finished later this year.
