UPDATED 1.12PM: Tom Latham's masterful first innings has come to an end.

The Black Caps opener has been dismissed LBW off the bowling of Shakib for 177 - 40 runs better than his previous highest test score.

New Zealand have avoided the follow on currently on 398 for six, with BJ Watling on 15 and Mitchell Santner yet to score.

The hosts have lost three wickets in the first session on day four, with Henry Nicholls departing for 53 and Colin de Grandhomme going for 14.

They are chasing Bangladesh's first innings score of 595.

Play began late at the Basin due to rain and strong winds this morning.

However, ground staff prepared the pitch quicker than expected, and the Black Caps only arrived at the ground minutes before the first ball was scheduled to be bowled.
