Police have caught a 14 year old drink driving in Masterton.
More than a thousand motorists were stopped and breath tested at a checkpoint in the Wairarapa town last night, the teenager one of them.
Wellington District Road Policing Manager Inspector Mike Wright said he read through the results this morning, and made the astonishing discovery.
The boy returned a reading of 135 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
He's been referred to Youth Aid and his vehicle was impounded.
The checkpoint in Masterton stopped 1,028 motorists, three of those are facing charges.
