The National Party is hoping as the public gets to know Simon Bridges, they will want to vote for him in the next election.

The latest Colmar Brunton poll says the new leader's the preferred Prime Minister for only 10 percent of the public, in comparison to Jacinda Ardern's 37 percent.

Rodney MP Mark Mitchell told Mike Hosking Bridges just needs more time.

"He's been in the job for two months and he is out doing a road show now so he's getting right around the country so the country can find out about him and know who he is."
