Prime Minster Bill English has offered assurances to British counterpart Theresa May following her troubling election result.
The Conservative Party lost its parliamentary majority in last week's election, and now faces a challenge in forming a Government.
Mr English has spoken to Mrs May over the phone, and told Mike Hosking she is "very focused" on the job at hand.
"Look they've got some big complicated issues - forming a government, getting the Brexit negotiations sorted out. Seems to be a bit of internal politics going on there.
"She's just a very focused lady, going to get the job done."
Mr English said he told her New Zealand's stable coalition Government provides proof many parties can work together.
"Actually a point I'd made to her that we only have a working majority of one or two in the government here for the last nine years, so three or four or five, that's enough."
