The Prime Minister's gearing up to give families a boost.

Details of Labour's Families Package are set to be announced this week.

Jacinda Ardern said gains in a child poverty report, released last week, are promising but there's more work to be done.

She told Mike Hosking around 70 percent of families will be better off as a result of the package.

"Families package it's the part that we will be delivering to low and middle-income earners through things like working for families [and] winter energy payments."
