Electric campervans could be the new way to see New Zealand.

The government's dishing out more than $3.7 million to businesses to try to lift the number of electric vehicles on our roads.

20 projects are getting a share of the money, which is being matched by recipients.

Tourism Holdings CEO Grant Webster told Chris Lynch] they're getting a grant to convert an electric van into a campervan.

"These are big new investments for our industry, and the holiday park industry, so we're getting out there ahead of the curve and trying to offer something new and different for customers that's going to better the environment."
